Mint Morsels and Large Explosions

A cupcake a day keeps the doctor away. This weekend I didn't go the traditional 4th of July celebration route as a theme for my cupcakes. I opted for something easy, and this time, out of the box. Chocolate cupcakes with an Andes Mint surprise baked in the middle, mint frosting and some pink nonpareils. And while the cupcakes may have not fit the spirit of the holiday, the other photos should speak loud and clear. I hope you all had a happy fourth!

  1. Awesome picture's Michelle. Chocolate and mint go so well together. No need to miss the red, white and blue. Yum!

  2. SO-- I'm just learning about your cupcake obsession.. or should I say gift? I, too, have a bit of a cupcake problem. It started a few years ago. I frequently take pictures of my cupcakes and Jared thinks it's weird. I'm going to have to come over sometime and fully experience "the Tao of Michelle." I need help decorating! You're a true artist! I have the recipes down and I can bake a mean batch of cupcakes... but I am not great at decorating. I've tried a couple in the "Hello, Cupcake" book but I mostly get frustrated and end up doing a cute swirl on top. I have a TO-DIE-FOR strawberry on strawberry recipe that I'll have to email you. They're my "go-to" cupcakes when I want to impress someone. :) I am in need of a TO-DIE-FOR peanut butter frosting... I haven't found one yet that goes perfectly with a chocolate cupcake. The Sweet Tooth Fairy bakery in Provo has the best chocolate/peanut butter cupcake I've ever tasted and I'm dying to have a recipe!

We should get together one day so I can learn some of the art of decorating (Of course, a lot of that might have to do with the fact that you really are an artist... I'm just a fake)! I love your blog-- glad I can catch up with you this way!

  3. You are so talented at making cupcakes. My granddaughter had a hard time eating hers because it looked so wonderful. We really do appreciate the artistry involved---& they taste great, too!

Also love your nature photos of your garden and the darling little birds. Amazing stuff! Keep it up.
